PfMP has a list of academic and professional prerequisites.  

For applicants who have a secondary degree, high school diploma, associate degree, or a global equivalent will need to have at least 84 months of portfolio management experience and at least 96 months of professional business experience withing the last 15 years. 

Applicants with a four-year degree, a bachelor’s degree or global equivalent need to have at least 48 months of portfolio management experience and at least 96 months of professional business experience withing the last 15 years.
